I'm going to start off with this: I saw what I think may have been the most dick move ever. I was at school and was approaching this door, there was like five people ahead of me. Some guy opened the door, passed through, turned out around and closed it firmly shut and then went on his way. I laughed a little, but can't figure out why he would do that except to be an ass.
My shoes have reached that point where they are being replaced. Luckily by the exact same make/model, but still, new shoes.
I love my old shoes. Sure, they're old, dirty, cracked, worn in, the soles are starting to come off, a couple of frays that are getting worse and they vacuum suck water from the slightest of puddles. Still, there are my favorite shoes. I've lived in these shoes for the past three years. We've been through a lot together, we have history. History can't be replaced. I trust them and rely on them. I don't trust the new shoes.
Yes, the new shoes are all clean and shiny but that doesn't last very long. After that fades, they're just shoes. Yes, they're still my shoes, but they have no character. I have no reason to trust them or rely on them. I have to start new with them and perhaps gradually build a brand new relationship with them, which may go one way or another.
Side note. I'm not a hobo. I have several pairs of shoes. But these are my favorites, the ones I wore almost every single day, the ones I lived in and grew in.
Goodbye old shoes. You're old, dirty, worn in and kind of smell but you're comfortable, reliable and I was happy with you.
I was in Philosophy class yesterday morning. The topic of discussion was "Moral Duty". Here are some gems.

Prof caught me giggling. I think that's partially why he kept going with it. It was funny, shut up.
